Method

Candied Pork Belly

1

Prepare the Pork Belly

Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F). In a bowl, mix brown sugar, soy sauce, honey, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Rub this mixture all over the pork belly.

2

Bake the Pork Belly

Place the pork belly in a baking dish and cover with foil. Bake for 2.5 to 3 hours until tender. Remove the foil and increase the oven temperature to 220°C (425°F) for an additional 30 minutes to caramelize the exterior.

3

Cool and Slice

Once cooked, let the pork belly cool slightly before slicing into bite-sized cubes.

Egg in a Nest

4

Prepare the Bread

Use a round cutter to cut a hole in the center of each slice of bread. Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat.

5

Cook the Eggs

Place the bread in the skillet and crack an egg into the hole of each slice. Season with salt and pepper. Cook until the eggs are set to your liking.

Maple Butter

6

Make Maple Butter

In a bowl, mix together softened unsalted butter and maple syrup until well combined. Set aside.
