Sear the Chuck Roast
In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Season the chuck roast with salt and pepper, then sear it on all sides until browned (about 3-4 minutes per side). Remove the roast and set it aside.

Add Broth and Roast
Return the chuck roast to the pot, then pour in the beef broth. Bring to a simmer, cover, and cook on low heat for about 2-2.5 hours until the meat is tender.

Add Peas
About 10 minutes before the roast is done, add the frozen peas to the pot and stir them through.

Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Layer the Mixture
In a baking dish, layer the meat and vegetable mixture evenly on the bottom.

Top with Mashed Potatoes
Spread the mashed potatoes over the meat mixture, smoothing them out with a spatula.

Bake
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown.
