Make the Pastry Dough
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Mix Ingredients
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.

Chill the Dough
Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Shape the Pastries
Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about ½ inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters.

Place the cut pastry shapes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Let the pastries cool slightly and serve warm with vanilla butter and seasonal fruit preserves.
