Pastry Ingredients

Method

Preparation Directions

  1. 1

    Make the Pastry Dough

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract together until well combined.

  3. 3

    Mix Ingredients

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.

  4. 4

    Chill the Dough

Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  5. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  6. 6

    Shape the Pastries

Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about ½ inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters.

  7. 7

    Bake

Place the cut pastry shapes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.

  8. 8

    Serve

Let the pastries cool slightly and serve warm with vanilla butter and seasonal fruit preserves.
