Mussels

Garlic Butter White Wine Sauce

Method

Prepare Mussels

  1. 1

    Clean the Mussels

Rinse the mussels under cold water, scrubbing the shells to remove any dirt. Remove the beards by pulling them off with your fingers.

  2. 2

    Soak in Salt Water

In a bowl, combine water and salt. Submerge the cleaned mussels in the saltwater for about 20 minutes to help purge any sand.

Cook Mussels

  1. 3

    Steam the Mussels

In a large pot, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Add the mussels, cover, and steam for about 5-7 minutes or until the mussels open. Discard any that do not open.

Prepare Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté Garlic

In a separate skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. 5

    Add Wine and Butter

Pour in the white wine and bring to a simmer. Add the butter, stirring until melted. Add parsley and black pepper, mixing well.

Prepare Garlic Bread

  1. 6

    Mix Garlic Butter

In a bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley. Mix until well combined.

  2. 7

    Prepare Bread

Slice the baguette in half lengthwise. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly on both halves.

  3. 8

    Toast the Bread

Place the bread under the broiler for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Watch closely to prevent burning.

Serve

  1. 9

    Plate the Mussels

Transfer the steamed mussels to a serving dish and drizzle the garlic butter white wine sauce over the top.

  2. 10

    Serve with Garlic Bread

Serve the mussels with the toasted garlic bread on the side for dipping.
