Prepare Mussels

Clean the Mussels
Rinse the mussels under cold water, scrubbing the shells to remove any dirt. Remove the beards by pulling them off with your fingers.

Soak in Salt Water
In a bowl, combine water and salt. Submerge the cleaned mussels in the saltwater for about 20 minutes to help purge any sand.
Cook Mussels

Steam the Mussels
In a large pot, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Add the mussels, cover, and steam for about 5-7 minutes or until the mussels open. Discard any that do not open.
Prepare Sauce

Add Wine and Butter
Pour in the white wine and bring to a simmer. Add the butter, stirring until melted. Add parsley and black pepper, mixing well.
Prepare Garlic Bread

Toast the Bread
Place the bread under the broiler for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Watch closely to prevent burning.
Serve

Plate the Mussels
Transfer the steamed mussels to a serving dish and drizzle the garlic butter white wine sauce over the top.

Serve with Garlic Bread
Serve the mussels with the toasted garlic bread on the side for dipping.
