Method

Meatloaf

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meatloaf Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, eggs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Shape and Bake

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Shape the meat mixture into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan. Bake for 1 hour or until the meatloaf is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).

Gravy

  1. 3

    Prepare the Gravy

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in beef broth and bring to a simmer.

  2. 4

    Thicken the Gravy

In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water until smooth. Gradually stir the cornstarch mixture into the simmering broth. Cook while stirring until the gravy thickens. Season with salt and black pepper.

Whipped Potatoes

  1. 5

    Cook the Potatoes

In a large pot, add peeled and cubed potatoes. Cover with water and bring to a boil. Cook until potatoes are tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 6

    Whip the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash and whip until smooth and creamy.

Vegetable of the Day

  1. 7

    Cook the Green Beans

In a pot of boiling water, add the trimmed green beans and cook for about 5-7 minutes until tender but still crisp. Drain and season with salt if desired.
