Preparing the Brisket

Sear the Brisket
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Season the brisket with salt and black pepper. Once the oil is hot, add the brisket and sear on both sides until browned, about 4-5 minutes per side.

Prepare the Slow Cooker
Transfer the seared brisket to a slow cooker. Add sliced onions, minced garlic, beef broth, brown sugar, smoked paprika, and ground cumin to the slow cooker, ensuring the brisket is well-coated with the mixture.

Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the brisket is tender and easily shredded with a fork.

In a small saucepan, combine the beef broth from the brisket with cornstarch mixed in water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring continuously until the gravy thickens. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
