Main Dish Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chicken

Preheat your grill or oven to 375°F (190°C). Rinse the whole chicken under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels. Rub the chicken all over with olive oil.

  2. 2

    Seasoning the Chicken

In a small bowl, mix together garlic powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and onion powder. Rub this mixture all over the chicken, making sure to get under the skin as well.

  3. 3

    Stuffing the Chicken

Place the fresh rosemary and the lemon, cut in half, into the cavity of the chicken.

  4. 4

    Grilling the Chicken

Open the beer can and drink half of it (or pour it out), then carefully insert the can into the cavity of the chicken. Place the chicken upright on the grill or in a roasting pan if using the oven. Cook for about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).

Sides Preparation

  1. 5

    Green Beans

While the chicken is cooking, bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the green beans and cook for about 5-7 minutes until tender but still crisp. Drain and toss with butter and salt.

  2. 6

    Mashed Potatoes

In a separate pot, boil water and add the mashed potatoes. Cook according to package instructions until tender. Drain, then return to the pot. Add milk, butter, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.
