Cheese Ravioli Filling

Method

Preparing the Ravioli

  1. 1

    Make the Filling

In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Dough

On a clean surface, create a mound of flour and make a well in the center. Add eggs and salt to the well. Gradually mix the flour into the eggs until a dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Wrap in plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Roll Out the Dough

After resting, divide the dough into quarters. Roll out one portion at a time into a thin sheet (about 1/16 inch thick) using a pasta machine or rolling pin.

  4. 4

    Shape the Ravioli

Cut the rolled-out dough into squares (about 3 inches). Place a tablespoon of filling in the center of each square. Moisten the edges with water, fold over, and press to seal. Repeat with the remaining dough and filling.

  5. 5

    Cook the Ravioli

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Gently add the ravioli and cook for 3-4 minutes until they float to the top. Remove with a slotted spoon.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve hot with your choice of marinara or alfredo sauce, and garnish with additional Parmesan cheese and basil if desired.
