Beer Battered Shrimp
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Shrimp
Peel and devein the shrimp, leaving the tails on. Pat dry with paper towels.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually whisk in the beer until the batter is smooth and well combined.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Batter and Fry the Shrimp
Dip each shrimp into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place the battered shrimp into the hot oil, cooking in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- 5
Drain and Serve
Remove the shrimp from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve immediately with coleslaw and French fries.
