Method

Preparation of Cheese

  1. 1

    Cutting the Mozzarella

Start by cutting the block of mozzarella cheese into 1-inch thick slices. Ensure each slice is uniform for even frying.

Breading Process

  1. 2

    Setting Up Breading Station

In three separate shallow bowls, place the flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs mixed with salt and pepper.

  2. 3

    Breading the Cheese

Dredge each mozzarella slice in flour, shaking off excess. Dip into the beaten eggs, then coat with breadcrumbs, pressing lightly to adhere. Repeat for all slices.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heating the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Frying the Cheese

Carefully add the breaded mozzarella slices to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Sauce Preparation

  1. 6

    Making the Sauce

In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant. Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and sugar. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Serving

  1. 7

    Plating the Dish

Serve the fried mozzarella hot, drizzled with the original sauce. Enjoy with additional sauce on the side for dipping.
