Steak

Method

Preparing the Steak

1

Season and Cook the Steak

Preheat the grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. Season the New York strip steak with salt and black pepper. Cook the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing thinly.

Making the Au Jus

2

Prepare the Au Jus

In a saucepan, combine beef broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, sliced onion, and minced garlic. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and let it cook for about 10-15 minutes, until flavors meld. Strain the broth if desired.

Preparing the Toast

3

Make the Garlic Toast

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a small bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic. Slice the baguette or French bread in half lengthwise and spread the garlic butter on the cut sides. Place on a baking sheet and bake for about 8-10 minutes, until golden.

Assembly

4

Assemble the Mini Dips

Layer the sliced steak on the garlic toast, top with shredded Gruyere cheese, and place under the broiler for 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts. Serve with warm au jus for dipping.
