Main Ingredients

Drawn Butter

Method

Preparing the Clams

  1. 1

    Clean the Clams

Rinse the fresh clams under cold running water to remove any sand or debris. Scrub the shells with a brush if necessary.

  2. 2

    Soak the Clams

Soak the clams in a bowl of cold water for 20 minutes. This helps them expel any sand inside.

Cooking the Clams

  1. 3

    Sauté the Garlic

In a large pot, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.

  2. 4

    Add Wine and Clams

Pour in the white wine and bring it to a simmer. Add the cleaned clams, salt, and black pepper. Cover the pot.

  3. 5

    Steam the Clams

Steam the clams for about 5-7 minutes, or until they open up. Discard any clams that do not open.

  4. 6

    Garnish with Parsley

Once cooked, remove the clams from heat and sprinkle with fresh parsley.

Preparing Drawn Butter

  1. 7

    Melt the Butter

In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat until fully melted. Do not let it boil.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve the Dish

Serve the steamed clams with the melted drawn butter on the side for dipping.
