Method

Preparing the Steak

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Sprinkle the NY strip steak with salt and black pepper on both sides. Let it sit at room temperature for about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 2

    Cook the Steak

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil to the pan. Once hot, add the steak. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side for medium-rare, then flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side. Use a meat thermometer for accuracy (130°F for medium-rare).

  3. 3

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked to your liking, remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest on a cutting board for 5 minutes before slicing.

Preparing the Eggs

  1. 4

    Cook the Eggs

In the same skillet (add a bit more oil if needed), crack the two eggs. Cook them to your desired doneness: sunny-side up, over-easy, or scrambled. Season with a little salt and pepper.

Preparing the Toast

  1. 5

    Toast the Bread

While the steak and eggs are cooking, toast the bread slices in a toaster or on a skillet until golden brown.

Serving

  1. 6

    Plate the Dish

Slice the rested steak against the grain. On a plate, arrange the steak slices, add the cooked eggs on the side, and serve with the toasted bread.

  2. 7

    Enjoy!

Serve immediately while hot, and enjoy your delicious steak and eggs breakfast!
