Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Beef

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 10 minutes.

  2. 2

    Sauté Vegetables

Add the chopped onions, minced garlic, and chopped bell peppers to the pot. Sauté until the vegetables are soft, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Tomatoes and Beans

Stir in the crushed canned tomatoes and drained kidney beans into the pot. Mix well to combine.

  4. 4

    Season the Mixture

Add the chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper to the pot. Stir well and let the mixture cook for 2 minutes.

  5. 5

    Add Water and Simmer

Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Serving

  1. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Once the chili has thickened, remove it from heat. Serve in large bowls, garnished with chopped cilantro, a dollop of sour cream, and a sprinkle of shredded cheese.
