Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Chop Vegetables

Chop the onion and bell pepper into small pieces. Mince the garlic cloves.

  2. 2

    Drain Beans

Open the canned kidney and black beans, and drain the liquid. Rinse them under cold water.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Brown the Beef

In a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 4

    Add Vegetables

Add chopped onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic to the pot. Cook until the vegetables are soft, about 5 minutes.

  3. 5

    Add Beans and Tomatoes

Stir in the drained kidney beans, black beans, canned diced tomatoes, and tomato paste. Mix well.

  4. 6

    Season the Chili

Add chili powder, cumin, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Stir to combine.

  5. 7

    Simmer

Reduce the heat to low and let the chili simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. The longer it simmers, the better the flavor.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve the Chili

Ladle the chili into bowls and top with a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese.
