Method

Black Cherry Flavoring

    Prepare the Cherry Syrup

    In a saucepan, combine fresh black cherries, sugar, and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.

    Simmer the Mixture

    Reduce heat and let the mixture simmer for 15 minutes, mashing the cherries to release their juices.

    Strain the Syrup

    Remove from heat and strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl, discarding the solids. Stir in fresh lemon juice.

    Combine with Soda Water

    In a glass, mix 1/4 cup of the cherry syrup with 1/2 cup of soda water. Stir gently to combine.

Cuban Flavoring

    Prepare the Mint Syrup

    In a saucepan, combine fresh mint leaves, sugar, and 1 cup of water. Bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves.

    Steep the Mint

    Remove from heat, cover, and let steep for 30 minutes.

    Strain the mint syrup into a bowl, discarding the leaves. Stir in fresh lime juice.
