Method

Pork Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork

Rub the pork shoulder with the salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Make sure to cover all sides evenly.

  2. 2

    Marinate

Let the seasoned pork sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes or refrigerate overnight for better flavor.

  3. 3

    Smoke the Pork

Preheat your smoker to 225°F (107°C). Place the pork shoulder in the smoker and smoke for about 8-10 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 195°F (90°C).

  4. 4

    Rest the Meat

Once cooked, remove the pork from the smoker and let it rest for at least 30 minutes before shredding.

BBQ Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Make the Sauce

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and let simmer for 15-20 minutes until thickened.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve

Shred the rested pork with two forks and mix it with the BBQ sauce. Serve on buns or plates with additional sauce on the side.
