Pork

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork

Start by trimming any excess fat from the pork shoulder or butt if necessary. This will help reduce grease when cooking.

  2. 2

    Mix the Dry Rub

In a small bowl, combine the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Mix well to create a dry rub.

  3. 3

    Season the Pork

Rub the olive oil all over the pork, then generously apply the dry rub mixture to coat the meat evenly. Make sure to cover all sides.

  4. 4

    Add Optional Marinade

If desired, pour your choice of marinade or sauce over the seasoned pork. Make sure it is evenly coated. Seal the bag tightly.

Storage

  1. 5

    Prepare the Freezer Bag

Place the seasoned pork into a ziplock freezer bag. Try to remove as much air as possible before sealing the bag to prevent freezer burn.

  2. 6

    Label the Bag

Using a marker, label the bag with the date and contents for easy identification later.

  3. 7

    Store in Freezer

Lay the bag flat in the freezer for optimal storage. The pork can be stored for up to 6 months.
