Main Ingredients

BBQ Sauce (optional)

Method

Preparation of Ribs

  1. 1

    Rinse and Pat Dry

Rinse the spare ribs under cold water to remove any surface impurities. Pat them dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Remove the Membrane

Place the ribs bone-side up on a cutting board. Use a sharp knife to carefully lift one end of the membrane and peel it off completely for better flavor absorption.

Applying the Dry Rub

  1. 3

    Mix the Dry Rub Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.

  2. 4

    Rub the Mixture on Ribs

Generously apply the dry rub mixture all over the spare ribs, making sure to coat both sides and the edges. Use your hands to massage the rub into the meat for better flavor.

Cooking the Ribs

  1. 5

    Prepare the Grill or Oven

Preheat your grill or oven to a low temperature (about 120°C/250°F) for indirect cooking.

  2. 6

    Cook the Ribs

Place the ribs bone-side down on the grill grates or a baking sheet if using the oven. Cook for approximately 3 to 4 hours, or until the meat is tender and starts to pull away from the bones.

  3. 7

    Apply BBQ Sauce (Optional)

If desired, brush BBQ sauce onto the ribs during the last 30 minutes of cooking for a glazed finish.

Serving

  1. 8

    Rest and Slice

Once done, remove the ribs from the grill or oven and let them rest for 10 minutes. Slice between the bones to serve.

  2. 9

    Enjoy

Serve the ribs hot with your favorite sides and enjoy the delicious flavors!
