Dough Ingredients

Egg Wash

Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Warm Milk and Butter

In a small saucepan, gently heat the milk and unsalted butter over low heat until the butter has melted. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and vanilla extract. Add the warm milk mixture to the eggs and mix until fully combined.

  4. 4

    Form the Dough

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix with a wooden spoon until a rough dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    First Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap or a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.

Shaping and Baking

  1. 6

    Shape the Buns

Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape each piece into a ball. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  2. 7

    Second Rise

Cover the shaped buns with a damp towel and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes until they have doubled in size.

  3. 8

    Prepare Egg Wash

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk for the egg wash.

  4. 9

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  5. 10

    Apply Egg Wash

Brush the tops of the buns with the egg wash for a shiny finish.

  6. 11

    Bake the Buns

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack.
