Brisket Preparation
- 1
Season the Brisket
In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Rub the mixture all over the brisket, ensuring it's well coated.
- 2
Cook the Brisket
Preheat your smoker or oven to 225°F (107°C). Place the seasoned brisket on the smoker rack or in a roasting pan. Add the beef broth to the pan for moisture. If using a smoker, smoke the brisket for about 6-8 hours until it reaches an internal temperature of 195°F (90°C). If using an oven, cover the pan tightly with foil and roast for 6-8 hours.
- 3
Rest the Brisket
Once cooked, remove the brisket from the heat and let it rest for at least 30 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute for a more flavorful sandwich.
- 4
Slice the Brisket
After resting, slice the brisket against the grain into thin slices for the sandwich.
