Ingredients for Seared Peppered Tuna

Method

Directions for Seared Peppered Tuna

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tuna

Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels. In a small bowl, mix the coarse black pepper and sesame seeds together. Press this mixture onto both sides of the tuna steaks, coating them evenly.

  2. 2

    Sear the Tuna

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the tuna steaks and sear for about 1-2 minutes on each side for rare, or until cooked to your desired doneness. Remove from heat and let rest for a couple of minutes before slicing.

  3. 3

    Make Wasabi Cream

In a small bowl, mix the wasabi paste with the heavy cream until well combined. Adjust wasabi to taste if desired.

  4. 4

    Prepare Miso Vinaigrette

In another bowl, whisk together the miso paste, rice vinegar, soy sauce, and honey until smooth.

  5. 5

    Serve

Slice the seared tuna steaks and place them over a bed of cooked rice. Drizzle with miso vinaigrette and add dollops of wasabi cream on the side. Garnish with chopped green onions.
