Prime Rib
Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Prime Rib
Remove the prime rib roast from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 1 hour. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- 2
- 3
Sear the Roast
Place the roast in a roasting pan and put it in the preheated oven. Sear for 15-20 minutes until a crust forms.
- 4
Roast the Prime Rib
Reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue roasting for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness (125°F for rare, 135°F for medium rare, 145°F for medium).
- 5
Prepare the Au Jus
While the roast is resting, combine beef broth and water in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer and scrape any drippings from the roasting pan into the broth for added flavor.
- 6
Rest and Serve
Remove the roast from the oven and let it rest for at least 20 minutes before slicing. Serve with au jus and optional creamy horseradish sauce.
