Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cabbage

Remove the outer leaves of the red cabbage, cut it in half, and slice it thinly into shreds. Place the shredded cabbage in a large bowl and sprinkle with salt. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to soften.

  2. 2

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the shredded carrot and cumin seeds, cooking for an additional 2 minutes.

  3. 3

    Combine and Cook

Add the shredded cabbage to the skillet and stir to combine with the onions and carrots. Pour in apple cider vinegar and sprinkle sugar and black pepper over the mixture. Cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender but still has a slight crunch.

  4. 4

    Serve

Remove from heat and let cool slightly before serving. Adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed.
