Sushi and Sashimi Ingredients
Method
Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare Sushi Rice
Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to the package instructions. Once cooked, transfer to a bowl and let it cool slightly. Mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small bowl until dissolved, then fold it into the rice.
- 2
Make Sashimi
Slice the fresh salmon and tuna into thin pieces, about 1/4 inch thick. Arrange them on a plate with a small mound of pickled ginger on the side.
- 3
Prepare the Roll
Lay a nori sheet on a bamboo mat. Wet your hands to prevent sticking, and spread a thin layer of sushi rice over the nori, leaving a 1-inch border at the top. Arrange cucumber and avocado slices in a line across the center of the rice. Roll the mat away from you, pressing gently to form a tight roll. Seal the edge with a little water.
- 4
Cut the Roll
Using a sharp knife, slice the roll into 6 pieces. Wipe the knife with a damp cloth between cuts for clean edges.
- 5
Assemble the Plate
On a serving platter, arrange the 6 pieces of sushi, 9 pieces of sashimi, and the sushi roll. Serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger on the side.
