Method

Prepare the Fries

1

Cook the Fries

Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the frozen french fries package. Spread the fries evenly on a baking sheet and bake for the recommended time until golden and crispy.

Cook the Patty and Toppings

2

Form the Patty

Shape the ground beef into a patty approximately 1/3 lb in weight. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.

3

Cook the Patty

In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the patty for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until cooked to your desired doneness.

4

Cook the Bacon

In the same skillet, add bacon slices and cook until crispy. Remove and set aside on a paper towel to drain excess fat.

5

Sauté the Onions

In the leftover bacon fat, add sliced medium onion and sauté over medium heat until caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.

6

Melt the Cheese

Place the Swiss and American cheese slices on top of the patty during the last minute of cooking. Cover the skillet with a lid to help the cheese melt.

Assemble the Patty Melt

7

Butter the Bread

Spread butter on one side of each slice of rye bread.

8

Grill the Sandwich

In a clean skillet, place one slice of rye bread butter side down. Add the cheeseburger patty with melted cheese, followed by the crispy bacon and sautéed onions. Top with the second slice of rye bread, butter side up.

9

Cook the Patty Melt

Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and crispy.

Serve

10

Plate the Dish

Serve the patty melt hot with a side of crispy fries.
