Cake Ingredients

Method

Preparation

1

Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and grease four ramekins with butter and dust with cocoa powder to prevent sticking.

2

Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals until completely melted and smooth, stirring in between.

3

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

4

Combine Mixtures

Once the chocolate and butter mixture is cool, add in the eggs, egg yolks, and vanilla extract. Mix until fully incorporated.

5

Add Dry Ingredients

Gently fold the dry ingredients into the chocolate mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.

6

Pour into Ramekins

Distribute the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 2/3 full.

Baking

7

Bake the Cakes

Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.

8

Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool for 1 minute. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate and gently lift to release the cake. Serve immediately, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
