Method

Rice Preparation

1

Soak the Sticky Rice

Rinse the sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.

2

Cook the Rice

Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer basket lined with cheesecloth. Steam the rice for about 30-40 minutes until it becomes translucent and tender.

Coconut Sauce

3

Prepare the Coconut Sauce

In a saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Do not boil. Reserve 1/4 cup of the sauce for drizzling later.

4

Combine Sauce with Rice

Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl and pour the coconut sauce (except for the reserved portion) over the rice. Stir gently to combine and let sit for about 20 minutes to allow the rice to absorb the flavors.

Mango Topping

5

Prepare the Mangoes

Peel and slice the ripe mangoes into thin strips or wedges.

6

Assemble the Dish

To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate, top with mango slices, and drizzle the reserved coconut sauce over the top. Optionally, garnish with sesame seeds or mung beans.
