Method

Main Dish

  1. 1

    Marinate the Chicken

In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Add the chicken thighs, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Breading

In a separate bowl, mix the all-purpose flour and cornstarch together. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Bread the Chicken

Remove the marinated chicken from the refrigerator. Dredge each piece in the flour-cornstarch mixture, shaking off any excess flour.

  5. 5

    Fry the Chicken

Carefully place the breaded chicken thighs in the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes per side. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).

  6. 6

    Drain and Serve

Remove the chicken from the oil and let it drain on paper towels. Serve hot.

Mashed Potatoes

  1. 7

    Cook the Potatoes

Peel and chop the russet potatoes into uniform pieces. Place them in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook for 15-20 minutes or until tender.

  2. 8

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

Coleslaw

  1. 9

    Mix the Vegetables

In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage and grated carrots.

  2. 10

    Prepare the Dressing

In a separate bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 11

    Combine and Chill

Pour the dressing over the cabbage and carrots. Toss to combine, then cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Vegetable

  1. 12

    Prepare the Green Beans

Trim the ends of the green beans and rinse them under cold water.

  2. 13

    Sauté the Green Beans

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the green beans, salt, and black pepper. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until they are tender yet crisp.
