1. Prepare the Chicken

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound them to an even thickness of about 1/2 inch.

2. Set Up Breading Station

In three separate shallow dishes, place the flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs mixed with grated Parmesan cheese.

3. Coat the Chicken

Dredge each chicken breast in flour, shaking off excess. Dip into the beaten eggs, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing down to adhere.

4. Fry the Chicken

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the breaded chicken breasts and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove and set aside.

5. Make the Sauce

In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds. Then, add crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.

6. Combine Chicken and Sauce

In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of the tomato sauce, then place the fried chicken on top. Spoon more sauce over the chicken and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.

7. Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

8. Garnish and Serve

Remove from oven, sprinkle with fresh chopped basil, and serve hot with pasta or on its own.
