Filling

Jalapenos

Coating

Method

Preparation of Filling

  1. 1

    Mix the Filling

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, sharp cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, bacon bits, salt, and black pepper. Use a fork or a hand mixer to blend until smooth and well combined.

Preparing Jalapenos

  1. 2

    Prepare the Jalapenos

Cut the jalapenos in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes carefully to reduce the heat. This can be done using a small spoon or a knife.

  2. 3

    Stuff the Jalapenos

Using a spoon or a piping bag, fill each jalapeno half with the cream cheese mixture until level with the top.

Coating and Frying

  1. 4

    Set Up Coating Station

Set up a coating station by placing the flour, beaten eggs, and bread crumbs in separate shallow dishes.

  2. 5

    Coat the Jalapenos

Dip each stuffed jalapeno into the flour, then into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with bread crumbs, pressing gently to adhere.

  3. 6

    Heat Oil

In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping in a small piece of bread; if it sizzles, the oil is ready.

  4. 7

    Fry the Jalapenos

Carefully add the coated jalapenos to the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Flip them halfway through for even cooking.

  5. 8

    Drain Excess Oil

Once fried, remove the jalapenos from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve

Serve the jalapeno poppers warm with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch or blue cheese dressing.
