Burger Patty

Method

Burger Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined; avoid overmixing to keep the patty tender.

  2. 2

    Form the Patty

Divide the mixture into two equal portions, each weighing approximately 0.33 lbs. Shape each portion into a patty that is about ¾ inch thick and slightly larger than the bun to account for shrinkage during cooking.

Cooking the Patty

  1. 3

    Preheat Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a small amount of oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patty

Place the patty on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side until a nice crust forms. Flip the patty and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium-rare, or longer if desired.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of the patty and cover to melt the cheese.

Burger Assembly

  1. 6

    Prepare the Bun

While the patty is cooking, slice the hamburger bun in half and lightly toast it on the grill or in a toaster if desired.

  2. 7

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of the bun, place a lettuce leaf, then the cooked patty with melted cheese, followed by slices of tomato, pickles, and your desired condiments (ketchup and mustard).

  3. 8

    Finish the Burger

Top with the other half of the bun and press down gently to secure the ingredients. Serve immediately.
