Chicken and Marinade

Method

Marinating the Chicken

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, hot sauce, salt, and black pepper. Whisk together until well mixed.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Chicken

Cut the chicken breasts into strips. Add the chicken strips to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

Preparing the Breading

  1. 3

    Mix the Dry Ingredients

In a separate large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir until all ingredients are thoroughly mixed.

Frying the Chicken Strips

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Bread the Chicken Strips

Remove the marinated chicken strips from the refrigerator. Take each strip and dredge it in the flour mixture, pressing gently to adhere the breading.

  3. 6

    Fry the Chicken Strips

Carefully place the breaded chicken strips into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry in batches for about 5-7 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

  4. 7

    Drain and Serve

Once cooked, remove the chicken strips from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
