Marinade

Method

Marinade Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, hot sauce, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder until well combined.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Chicken

Cut the chicken breasts into strips and add them to the marinade. Ensure all pieces are well coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

Breading Process

  1. 3

    Prepare the Breading Station

In a shallow dish, combine the flour, paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. In another bowl, beat the eggs and milk together.

  2. 4

    Coat the Chicken

Remove the chicken strips from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dip each strip first into the flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, and finally back into the flour mixture for a double coating.

Frying Process

  1. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep skillet or pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Fry the Chicken Strips

Carefully place the coated chicken strips into the hot oil in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.

  3. 7

    Drain the Chicken Strips

Using a slotted spoon, remove the chicken strips from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
