Dough Ingredients

For Frying

Method

Prepare the Dough

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tsp of salt, and 1 tsp of baking powder. Stir well to incorporate the dry ingredients.

  2. 2

    Add Butter

Add 1 tbsp of softened butter to the dry mixture. Mix with your hands or a pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  3. 3

    Add Water

Gradually add 1 cup of water to the mixture, mixing until the dough comes together. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.

  4. 4

    Rest the Dough

Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it rest at room temperature for 30 minutes.

Prepare the Cheese Filling

  1. 5

    Mix Cheese Ingredients

In a separate bowl, combine 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese, 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, 1 tsp of garlic powder, and 1 tsp of black pepper. Mix until well blended.

Assemble and Fry

  1. 6

    Roll Out the Dough

After resting, roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 7

    Cut and Fill

Cut the rolled dough into strips about 1 inch wide. Place a spoonful of the cheese mixture at one end of each strip and fold over to seal.

  3. 8

    Heat Oil

In a large frying pan, heat 4 cups of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot.

  4. 9

    Fry the Cheese Sticks

Carefully add the cheese sticks to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
