Preparing the Rice Base

Cook the Rice
In a medium saucepan, combine the brown rice and water. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 40-45 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.
Cooking the Chickpea Mixture

Sauté the Chickpeas
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

Add Chickpeas and Spices
Drain and rinse the canned chickpeas, then add them to the skillet. Stir in the ground cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chickpeas are heated through and coated with spices.

Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the lemon juice. Mix well to combine.
