Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Soak Tamarind

In a bowl, soak the tamarind pulp in 240 ml of warm water for about 15 minutes to soften.

  2. 2

    Strain Mixture

After soaking, strain the mixture through a fine sieve into a bowl to extract the tamarind juice, pressing it down to get all the liquid out.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a saucepan, combine the tamarind juice, brown sugar, salt, chili powder, cumin powder, minced garlic, grated ginger, and ground black pepper.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Cook Sauce

Heat the saucepan over medium heat, stirring the mixture until the sugar completely dissolves and the sauce starts to simmer.

  2. 5

    Adjust Flavor

Add lemon juice and taste the sauce. Adjust salt or sugar according to your preference. If you want more heat, add additional chili powder.

  3. 6

    Simmer

Let the sauce simmer for about 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens to your desired consistency.

  4. 7

    Cool and Store

Remove from heat and allow the sauce to cool before transferring it to a clean jar or container for storage.
