Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Thaw the hash browns

Place the frozen hash browns in a large bowl and let them thaw at room temperature for about 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Mix the ingredients

Once thawed, add the all-purpose flour, beaten eggs, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped green onions, salt, and black pepper to the bowl with the hash browns. Mix everything together until well combined.

Frying

  1. 3

    Heat the oil

In a large, deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 4

    Form the bites

Using your hands, take a small amount of the hash brown mixture and form it into a ball about the size of a golf ball. Repeat until all the mixture is used.

  3. 5

    Fry the bites

Carefully drop a few hash brown balls into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes, turning occasionally.

  4. 6

    Drain the bites

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried hash brown bites from the oil and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve hot

Serve the hash brown bites hot with your favorite dipping sauce on the side.
