Cake Preparation

    Preheat the Oven

    Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

    Mix Dry Ingredients

    In a large mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

    Add Wet Ingredients

    Add the eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix on medium speed for about 2 minutes until well combined.

    Incorporate Boiling Water

    Stir in the boiling water gradually, the batter will be thin. Mix until smooth.

    Bake the Cakes

    Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

    Cool the Cakes

    Once baked, remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Chocolate Ganache Preparation

    Heat the Cream

    In a small saucepan over medium heat, bring the heavy cream to a simmer. Do not let it boil.

    Combine with Chocolate

    Place the semisweet chocolate chips in a bowl. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate chips and let it sit for 5 minutes.

    Stir Until Smooth

    After 5 minutes, stir the mixture until the chocolate is completely melted and the ganache is smooth.

    Cool the Ganache

    Allow the ganache to cool slightly before using it to frost the cake.

Assembly

    Frost the Cake

    Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of ganache on top, then place the second layer on top and frost the entire cake with the remaining ganache.
