Espresso

Milk and Foam

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Brew the Espresso

Using an espresso machine, brew 2 shots of espresso. Make sure to use freshly ground coffee beans for the best flavor.

  2. 2

    Heat the Milk

In a small saucepan or milk frother, heat 1 cup of whole milk over medium heat until it is hot but not boiling. Stir occasionally to prevent scalding.

  3. 3

    Froth the Milk

Using a milk frother or whisk, froth the heated milk until it is light and airy, creating a thick layer of foam. This should take about 2-3 minutes.

  4. 4

    Combine and Serve

In a large coffee cup, pour the brewed espresso first. Then, gently add the heated milk, allowing the foam to float on top. Adjust the ratio of milk to foam to your preference, but aim for a half-and-half mixture.
