Method

Brewing Espresso

  1. 1

    Prepare the Espresso

Using an espresso machine, brew two shots of espresso. Ensure the espresso is rich and has a nice crema on top.

Steaming Milk

  1. 2

    Steam the Milk

Pour 1 cup of whole milk into a steaming pitcher. Use the steam wand of your espresso machine to steam the milk until it reaches about 150°F (65°C) and is velvety smooth. Avoid boiling.

  2. 3

    Create Milk Foam

To create foam, position the steam wand just below the surface of the milk and froth until the milk doubles in volume and has a creamy texture. Set aside.

Assembling the Cafe Latte

  1. 4

    Combine Espresso and Milk

In a large coffee mug, pour the brewed espresso shots first. Then, gently pour the steamed milk over the espresso, holding back the foam with a spoon.

  2. 5

    Top with Milk Foam

Spoon the milk foam on top of the latte to create a nice layer of froth. You can also create latte art if desired.
