Roti Canai Ingredients
Method
Preparation Directions
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, and sugar. Gradually add water and condensed milk while mixing until a soft dough forms.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rest for at least 2 hours.
- 3
Divide and Shape
After resting, divide the dough into equal balls (about 8-10). Flatten each ball slightly and coat with ghee or butter. Let them rest for another 30 minutes.
- 4
Roll and Fold
Take a rested dough ball and flatten it with your hands. Use a rolling pin to roll it out into a thin sheet. Fold it into a square or pleats and place it on a greased tray. Repeat with remaining dough balls.
- 5
Cook the Roti
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Cook each roti for about 2-3 minutes on each side, adding ghee or butter as needed until golden brown and flaky.
- 6
Serve
Serve hot with your choice of curry sauce for dipping.
