In a bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Chill the Mixture

Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.

  3. 3

    Churn the Ice Cream

Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer’s instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.

  4. 4

    Add Optional Ingredients

If desired, fold in chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or fruit pieces at this stage.

  5. 5

    Freeze the Ice Cream

Transfer the ice cream to a lidded container and freeze for at least 4 hours until firm.

  4. 9

    Churn the Sorbet

  5. 10
