Gajar Halwa Tart Ingredients

Method

Gajar Halwa Tart Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Gajar Halwa

In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat the ghee over medium heat. Add the grated carrots and sauté for about 5 minutes until they soften.

  2. 2

    Cook the Carrots

Pour in the milk and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens and the carrots are fully cooked (about 30-40 minutes).

  3. 3

    Add Sugar and Nuts

Stir in the sugar and cook for an additional 10-15 minutes until the halwa becomes dry. Add the cardamom powder and chopped nuts, mixing well.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Tart

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the tart crust in a tart pan and fill it with the gajar halwa mixture, spreading it evenly.

  5. 5

    Bake the Tart

Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes until the crust is golden brown.

  6. 6

    Prepare the Basundi

In a separate pot, boil milk and reduce it to half its volume. Stir continuously to avoid burning. Add sugar and cardamom, and cook for another 5-7 minutes.

  7. 7

    Serve

Pour the basundi over the gajar halwa tart or serve it on the side. Garnish with additional chopped nuts if desired.
