Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Rice

Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for about 30 minutes, then drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Cook the Meat

In a large pot, heat the oil or ghee over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until golden brown. Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for another minute. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until soft.

  3. 3

    Add Spices

Stir in the meat pieces and cook until they are browned. Add the biryani masala, salt, and the whole spices. Mix well.

  4. 4

    Add Yogurt and Water

Add yogurt to the pot and mix thoroughly. Pour in 4 cups of water and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat, cover, and let it simmer until the meat is tender (about 20-25 minutes).

  5. 5

    Layer the Rice

In a separate pot, bring water to a boil and add the drained rice. Cook the rice until it's about 70% done. Drain the rice and layer it over the cooked meat in the pot.

  6. 6

    Final Cooking

Cover the pot with a tight lid and cook on low heat for another 20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Remove from heat and let it sit for 10 minutes before serving.

  7. 7

    Garnish and Serve

Garnish the biryani with chopped coriander and mint leaves before serving. Enjoy!
