Cake Directions
- 1
Melt Chocolate and Butter
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a pot of simmering water, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- 2
Mix Sugar and Eggs
In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and eggs until pale and fluffy. Add the melted chocolate mixture and vanilla extract to the egg mixture, stirring until well combined.
- 3
Combine Dry Ingredients
Sift together the all-purpose flour and fold into the chocolate mixture until just combined.
- 4
Bake the Cake
Pour the batter into a greased 8-inch round cake pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- 5
Cool and Serve
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve as is or with whipped cream on top.
