Cream Mixture Preparation

Prepare the Mascarpone Cream
In a large mixing bowl, whisk the egg yolks and granulated sugar together until pale and creamy. Add the mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.

Whip the Heavy Cream
In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined. Set aside.
Coffee Mixture Preparation

Brew the Coffee
Brew the espresso or strong coffee and allow it to cool slightly. If using, mix in the coffee liqueur.
Assembling the Tiramisù

Dip the Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

Layer the Ingredients
In a rectangular dish, layer half of the soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture over the ladyfingers.

Repeat the Layers
Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone cream mixture.
Finishing Touches

Chill and Serve
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight. Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and sprinkle with chocolate shavings if desired.
