Method

Cream Mixture Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Mascarpone Cream

In a large mixing bowl, whisk the egg yolks and granulated sugar together until pale and creamy. Add the mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.

  2. 2

    Whip the Heavy Cream

In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined. Set aside.

Coffee Mixture Preparation

  1. 3

    Brew the Coffee

Brew the espresso or strong coffee and allow it to cool slightly. If using, mix in the coffee liqueur.

Assembling the Tiramisù

  1. 4

    Dip the Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

  2. 5

    Layer the Ingredients

In a rectangular dish, layer half of the soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture over the ladyfingers.

  3. 6

    Repeat the Layers

Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone cream mixture.

Finishing Touches

  1. 7

    Chill and Serve

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight. Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and sprinkle with chocolate shavings if desired.
