Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare the Dough
If using store-bought dough, follow package instructions. If making from scratch, combine flour, water, yeast, and salt in a bowl, knead until smooth, and let rise for 1 hour.
- 2
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to its highest setting (usually around 475°F or 245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.
- 3
Roll Out the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness, usually about 10-12 inches in diameter.
- 4
Assemble the Pizza
Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border for the crust. Tear the mozzarella cheese into pieces and distribute it evenly over the sauce.
- 5
Add Basil and Seasoning
Place fresh basil leaves on top of the cheese. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and black pepper.
- 6
Bake the Pizza
Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated stone or baking sheet. Bake for about 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
- 7
Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a minute, then slice and serve hot, garnished with additional fresh basil if desired.
