Calzone Ingredients

Method

Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).

  2. 2

    Prepare the Filling

In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, cooked sausage, spinach, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and oregano. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.

  3. 3

    Roll Out the Dough

On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a 12-inch circle.

  4. 4

    Fill the Calzone

Place the filling mixture onto one half of the dough circle, leaving a 1-inch border around the edge.

  5. 5

    Fold and Seal

Fold the other half of the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Press the edges together to seal, and use a fork to crimp the edges for extra security.

  6. 6

    Apply Egg Wash

Brush the top of the calzone with the beaten egg to give it a golden color when baked.

  7. 7

    Bake the Calzone

Place the calzone on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

  8. 8

    Cool and Serve

Once baked, remove the calzone from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve hot.
