Preparation Steps

1

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

3

Cut in Butter

Cut the cold butter into small pieces and add it to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

4

Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, vanilla extract, and egg until well combined.

5

Form the Dough

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.

6

Shape the Scones

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times. Pat it into a circle about 1-inch thick. Cut into wedges or use a biscuit cutter to cut out rounds.

7

Bake

Place the scones on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

8

Cool and Serve

Let the scones cool slightly on a wire rack before serving warm with clotted cream and seasonal curd.
